Former Congressman Denver Riggleman Joins Veterans Cannabis Project Advisory Council

WASHINGTON, DC – Veterans Cannabis Project is pleased to announce that former U.S. Congressman Denver Riggleman (R-VA) has joined the organization as a member of its advisory council. The addition of Riggleman, an Air Force Officer and advocate for cannabis measures during his time in Congress, is a significant one as VCP expands its mission to meet the rapidly evolving state and federal cannabis environment.

“It’s clear to me we are at a point where utilizing cannabis to help veterans medically and in other areas is a common-sense no-brainer,” said Riggleman. “Serving in Congress was a great honor, and I look forward to continuing to work on the same cannabis issues from my time in Washington with the Veterans Cannabis Project.”

“We are honored that a strong advocate who shares our core values like Congressman Riggleman is joining the Veterans Cannabis Project advisory council,” said VCP Founder and Chairman Nick Etten. “While much progress has been made around the country, there is still a long road ahead for veterans when it comes to cannabis. This addition is a big boost to making sure our issue remains at the forefront in Washington and beyond, and that vets continue to get the help they need.”

Riggleman recently represented Virginia’s 5th Congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. During his time in Washington, Riggleman supported numerous cannabis reform issues, including as a co-sponsor of the STATES Act and SAFE Banking Act.

Riggleman served as a United States Air Force Intelligence Officer as a strategic analyst and tactical fighter and Bomber mission planner (B-1, F-16, F-15E, F-15c). He has also revitalized the tradition of U.S. politicians farming hemp in Virginia.

About the Veterans Cannabis Project

Veterans Cannabis Project (VCP) is dedicated to advocating on behalf of cannabis access issues for U.S. military veterans. VCP is committed to educating policymakers and the public about the value of cannabis to veterans and supporting veterans across the nation with the resources they need to understand the value of medical cannabis, know their cannabis rights, and access the tools they need to encourage federal policy change. We work daily to create a community that can heal our nation’s broken approach to cannabis and provide veterans with safe, legal access.
